Object and scope
The Association of Graduate Students in Law of the University of Rome, together with the University of Rome Tor Vergata, within its policy to promote the international exchange of students and postgraduates, introduces the present procedure in order to select the participants for the 2018 edition of the Summer School.
The program is dedicated to “Gino Gorla”, professor of Comparative Law in Rome who was involved in the “Cornell Seminaries” organized by Rudolf Schlesinger in 1964 and was one of the pioneers of comparative law between Italy and the United States.
The program is under the direction of professors Raffaele Lener, Massimo Papa and Bruno Sassani and lectures will be held by professors from Syracuse University – College of Law, on the basis of mutual agreements with Tor Vergata University and with the Association.
The aim of the Summer School is to provide the students with the opportunity to achieve the peculiar view of Law typical of Common Law countries, directly from professionals who are involved in the legal practice in the United States of America and have a real experience of teaching foreign students. Moreover, in the era of globalization, the acquisition of basics of legal writing skills in English can be a fruitful experience for those who may be willing to work in the corporate consulting legal sector or who actually work for international law firms. The initiative is extended also to the undergraduate students who may be willing to join the course for educational purposes.
Duration: 2 weeks Monday to Friday from July 16th to July 27th (5 working days per week);

Requirements
The applicants to the Summer School should meet the following requirements:
- to be a graduate student in law from an Italian University or from any other European University, or alternatively
- an undergraduate student in law from the University of Rome Tor Vergata;
- to have a certificate in English verifying a satisfactory knowledge of the language according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Language equivalent to B2 level or to have passed the English qualification (6 CFU) during law school in Tor Vergata, in the case of undergraduate students. The lack of such certificates can be substituted with an interview prior to the course.
The Association reserves the right to grant scholarships, covering all fees or part of them, to the students with outstanding CV, also considering the content of possible motivational letters attached to the application.
Fees and application
The single participant fee is 300,00 (three hundred/00) euros and will cover all costs of attendance and materials.
The applicant should send an e-mail including the following documents to segreteria@juristor.it:
• Curriculum vitae showing that the candidate has met the requirements;
• Either the required certificate of language or a declaration of attendance of the English qualification (6 CFU) in law school.
Optional documents:
• Motivational letters to be evaluated for the scholarship.
Deadline for the application is June 15th, 2018.
By June 30th, 2018 each applicant admitted to the course will receive communication containing confirmation of receipt, the eventual grant of the scholarship required and payment instructions in order to complete the application. Applications that do not comply with the above instructions will be rejected.
Certificate of attendance
At the end of the course all participants who attend at least 75% of the program will receive a certificate of attendance of the course, with a full description of the subject covered and skills developed in the course.
